In 1975, we started our family, and Grace began a hobby that she's turned into a vocation. Building on her long family traditions of thrift, good nutrition, and home cooking, she took up baking her own cookies and yeast breads.
She did all of this while being the epitome of the "home mom". As each of the real Beckers' Dozen came along, she (or he) would take a turn on the kitchen chair "helping". Each child would have his or her own piece of dough to knead, flour and roll out. We have more than one picture of children covered in flour and grinning with pride. To this day, we have children helping out with shopping, order taking, making, baking, and delivering products. They 've launched careers in graphic design, customer service, oh and "quality control' (taste testing!) from their growing- up experiences in the business.
As the family grew, so did Grace's repetoire. She added Kringle (a Wisconsin pastry), brownies, and breakfast breads. We added numbers 8,9 and 10. then in 1995 , we needed a way to make our share of the money for the St. Peter's Church building fund. About that same time Grace perfected her cinnamon rolls and an ideal combination was born-cinnamon rolls and fund raising. In five years she generated a large sum of money for a number of church organizations, youth groups and other charitable causes. And we generated numbers 11 and 12, the last of the Beckers' Dozen.
After more than two decades of baking, and with much encouragement from family and friends, The Beckers' Dozen, Inc. was born in 2000. We are a home grown family busines specializing in delivering you the highest quality baked goods.
